DASH Systems Develops One-Day Air Cargo

An engineer with experience at several firms, Joel Ifill founded and serves as chief executive officer of DASH Systems, a startup in Hawthorne, California, that is pioneering delivery to remote areas around the globe. Joel Ifill’s company aims to provide one-day delivery to anywhere on earth. The technology has already been tested in humanitarian efforts.

DASH’s cargo carriers can be described as unmanned gliders. The carrier’s control surfaces guide them to within 30 feet of their GPS-designated target. Cargo can be delivered with a small aircraft or helicopter to virtually any terrain.

The system transported about 2,000 pounds of supplies to two mountain areas of Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria devastated the island in 2017. The devices work within existing Federal Aviation Administration regulations that limited the testing and deployment of drones for cargo transport.

Mr. Ifill plans to upgrade the gliders to carry larger loads    , perhaps one day enabling weekly deliveries of food and medicine to remote areas in the United States and elsewhere. For more information about DASH Systems, please visit the company website at www.dashshipping.com.
